Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead is a Mexican celebration commemorating the life of a deceased loved one. Day of the Dead is typically celebrated on Nov 1st and 2nd. The 1st is a day of remembrance for deceased children and the 2nd is All souls day, or the day of remembrance for adults. The deceased loved on is typically portrayed doing an activity they enjoyed such as a hobby or even their occupation. This is one of my first paintings, of course I painted my kitties!
